FAQs

What if my student has dietary restrictions?

Please list all dietary restrictions when completing registration so we can plan to accommodate your student's restriction. Students are welcome to bring snacks/food with them. If you have additional concerns or questions, please contact your campus Student Ministry.

Can students attend with any campus that works for their schedule?

We ask that each student register with the campus they usually attend. If a student is bringing a guest, we ask that the guest registers with the student's campus. We want the connections students make at camp to last long after we arrive home, and the best way to make that happen is to come to camp with their campus.

How do I request financial assistance?

If you are interested in financial assistance, you will have an option to request assistance during the registration process.

What are the sleeping arrangements and do students have roommates?

Gender-specific rooms are assigned by campus. We will match roommates based upon your request during registration. Campers stay in college dorms, with each room supervised by our small group leaders.

What kind of supervision will there be?

Our adult leaders have successfully completed a background check and all required safety training. Two or more leaders are always around to help keep your camper engaged and well supervised at all times.

Are family or friends allowed to visit High School Camp?

Access to High School Camp is restricted for safety reasons, so we don’t allow visitors.

What activities are included in the camp registration fee?

Middle School Camp offers daily activity time where students can choose from free options like gaga ball, 9 square, dodgeball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and various lake activities (blob, canoes, swimming, floating island, slide).

The following additional activities are available for a fee:

  • Paintball: $35
  • Zip line: $14
  • High ropes: $14
  • Axe throwing: $11
  • Archery: $11

(Financial assistance does not cover additional fees.)

Are there accommodations for dietary restrictions?

Country Lake Christian Retreat tries very hard to be a food allergy friendly camp. Because of the number of campers attending camp, we cannot promise an allergen-free environment. We will notify CLCR kitchen staff of any food allergies as listed in your child’s registration.

Is financial assistance available?

If you are interested in financial assistance, you will have an option to request assistance during the registration process.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Our dorms are gender-specific. Each dorm is supervised by our small group leaders. Dorms are comprised of bunk beds.

Can l attend with any campus that works for my schedule?

Students are asked to register with the campus they usually attend. We want the connections they make at camp to build long-lasting relationships, and the best way to make that happen is to come with their campus.

Track times can be found here.

Can campers arrive late to camp or leave early?

Campers will not be allowed to arrive late or leave early.

How will I receive communication once my child is registered?

You will receive a confirmation email once you have completed registration. As your camp date approaches, additional information and a packing list will be emailed.

Can someone with a wheelchair or limited mobility attend camp?

Yes. Shine Camps focus on making every aspect of camp accessible for all levels of mobility.

What kind of supervision will there be?

Camp Freedom has levels of supervision depending on the needs of the campers. Trained volunteers serve in teams ranging from one-to-one to small groups led by small teams of volunteers. Volunteers are also never alone with a camper. Our teams work well together to help our campers have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

At Shine Family Day Camp, all campers spend the day with their family or caregivers. While staff and volunteers provide direction and activities, supervision is handled individually.

Does my child have to attend all three days and the Meet & Greet Celebration?

Yes. Since we have hundreds of kids who could come to camp and only a limited number of spots available, we require kids to attend each day, all day, and the Meet & Greet Celebration. If your child cannot attend all three days and the celebration, we ask that you please do not register so another child can take his/her spot.

What kind of supervision will there be?

Our adult leaders complete background checks and mandatory training before serving at camp. Although the buddy ratio is one-to-one for all campers, at NO time will a child be left alone with only one adult or teen. Two or more leaders are always around to help keep your camper engaged and supervised at all times. Additionally, all sessions are led by professional experts in child psychology or other related fields of study.
